Alternative Album Artwork

I created an alternative album cover for one of my favorite albums, FACES by Mac Miller. Created entirely from colored pencil, the artwork features the artist and a bear gazing at each other, each holding up masks of one
another. Through this imagery, I aimed to explore the complexity of identity and the layers we all wear, inviting viewers to reflect on their own multifaceted selves.

“Masks of the Week” is a visual exploration of the daily personas we construct in response to societal expectations and the pressures of routine. Each mask—labeled by day—represents the shifting identities we adopt to navigate various roles and environments, from work to social life, often in contrast to our true selves. The series invites viewers to consider the emotional labor involved in this constant performative act, and reflect on the psychological toll of wearing different masks every day. Through this illustration, the project highlights the tension between who we are and who we feel we need to be, urging a deeper understanding of the complexity of personal identity.
